Balkan rafting safari

Description

A rafting adventure around the Balkans – rafting into the wonderful canyon of the Osumi River in Albania and then 2 trips along the most extreme part of the Tara River in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Albania – covered with bunkers – in the end of the 1960s, the Albanian authoritarian leader Enver Hoxha issued an order for the construction in every settlement and place of work of anti-nuclear bunkers. Thus, Albania is covered with over 700,000 bunkers, which are unusable for nothing in peacetime, and their suitability in the event of nuclear war is also questionable.

Difficulty level:: no rafting experience required.

Day 1 – eparture from Sofia early in the morning. Our route passes through Skopje, past Lake Ohrid, with picturesque natural paintings on the way. In Albania, bunkers, monuments of the communist regime can be observed. In the evening, we arrive in the town near the river, staying in a hotel. Our route is about 500 km

Day 2 –after getting some sleep, we head to the beginning of Osumi Canyon, which is 15 km long. This is the most beautiful canyon in the Balkans, which in some places narrows to the width of a boat. Above the river rise rocks with a height of 40-50 meters, and during the rafting we pass along 15-20 picturesque waterfalls. Our descent ends in the center of the city, near the hotel, after which we indulge in the atmosphere of the town. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 3 –departure from Albania to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Arriving on the banks of the river, camping in bungalows.

Day 4 -equipping and transferring to the start of the descent, along the canyon of the Tara River. During our descent, we will enjoy wonderful views and rapids. Along the route we descend passes by a magnificent waterfall, under whose splashes you can pass. The color of the river is sea blue, and its purity allows us to see the bottom of the river even in the deeper sections. Free time to rest. Overnight camping of bungalows.

Day 5 – morning rafting descent along the extreme part of Tara river, after which we pack our bags, and we travel to Sofia. We arrive in Sofia in the evening.
